What Happens If Your Gazebo Kit Has Missing or Damaged Parts?

By Premier Assembly

Large kits contain many components. Here's what usually happens when something is missing, incorrect, or damaged — and what doesn't.

Gazebo kits can contain hundreds of components across multiple boxes. Most arrive complete and in good shape, but with that many parts, occasionally something is missing, incorrect, or damaged in transit.

Here's how that usually works in practice.

Large kits contain many components

A hardtop gazebo, in particular, involves roof panels, posts, hardware bags, bolts, and small fittings — often packed across several large cartons. It's normal for an installer to sort and organize all of this on site before building.

Visible package damage

Damage to a box doesn't always mean the parts inside are harmed. If packaging looks crushed or punctured:

  • Keep the packaging as it arrived
  • Take photos before opening
  • Note the damage on the delivery if you can

The installer can assess the contents on site and decide what's usable.

Missing hardware or components

Sometimes a hardware bag is short or a component didn't make it into the box. What happens depends on what's missing:

  • If a non-critical fastener or an easily substituted part is missing, work can often continue
  • If a structural component is missing, installation usually needs to pause until a replacement arrives

Incorrect components

Occasionally a wrong part is packed. If it's a small, swappable piece the build may continue; if it's a key structural component, the build pauses for a replacement.

When installation may need to pause

Pausing isn't the first choice, but it's the right one when a critical part is missing or damaged in a way that can't be safely worked around. The structure should be assembled the right way, not forced.

Manufacturer or retailer replacement parts

Missing or incorrect parts are typically resolved through the manufacturer or the retailer you bought from. Replacement hardware or components are usually shipped once the issue is identified and reported.

A possible return visit

If installation pauses for a replacement part, the job is finished on a return visit once the part arrives. Where additional charges could apply — for example a separate trip — those are approved with you in advance.

It's not automatically anyone's fault

Missing or damaged parts happen with large, complex kits and long shipping routes. The starting point is to identify what's affected and get the right replacement, not to assign blame.

FAQ

What if I find a part missing on installation day?
The installer assesses it on site. If it's non-critical, work often continues; if it's structural, the build pauses for a replacement from the manufacturer or retailer.
Do I contact you or the retailer for a replacement?
Replacements usually come from the manufacturer or the retailer you purchased from. We can help identify what's needed.
Will there be an extra charge for a return visit?
If a return visit is needed and additional charges could apply, those are approved with you in advance.
Should I open everything and check before you arrive?
You can note obvious damage, but keep packaging intact where possible so the installer can sort and assess components on site.
